Ruth Nine-Duff is Ziptastic winner for May

June 1, 2018

The Staff Employee Advisory Committee (SEAC) is pleased to announce the May Ziptastic Award recipient: Ruth Nine-Duff, senior business analyst in the College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST).

Nine-Duff gathers data about students and their academic histories. This data not only helps support the accreditation process for various programs, but also helps identify trends and future enrollment needs based on historical counts, completion rates and academic activity.

"Ruth is truly an advocate for student success," writes her nominator, Dee Dee Pitts, assistant dean of student services in CAST (pictured above, at left, with Nine-Duff). "Ruth developed a system to calculate load hours for developmental coursework to be utilized for establishing probation. By having this accurate information, CAST Advising is able to conduct intrusive advising by implementing success strategies. Without the calculation, these students could be missed as load hours are not calculated in the GPA."

Nine-Duff has served on several University committees, such as the Tiger Team. She also serves on University Council and the UC Executive Board, the UC Budget and Finance Committee, the Committee on Aging, and on SEAC. Because of her knowledge and data analysis skills, Nine-Duff was named the point person for CAST for the new Dashboard system.
