UA Accounting Student Receives Prestigious Scholarship

University of Akron accounting student Jason Rebholz has been named a recipient of the $10,000 Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholars Program award for the 2020-21 academic year.

This highly competitive, merit-based award is given to students, nominated by their respective institutions, who are likely to become auditors or who otherwise might choose a different career path.

Rebholz, entering the fifth and final year of his Accelerated B.S./M.S.A. program, said the scholarship will help him “immensely financially and academically” in achieving his goal of landing a full-time position with one of the “Big Four” accounting firms (Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and KPMG).

“The College of Business Administration (CBA), and particularly the School of Accountancy, has consistently encouraged me to apply for scholarships,” he added. “I have had many teachers along the way that have pushed me to do my absolute best, for which I am very thankful.”

Nominating institutions must be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Of the thousands of schools worldwide offering business degree programs, only 190, or about 1%, hold dual AACSB accreditation in business and accounting — and the CBA is one of them.
