MBA Team Advances to Finals


Congratulations to our MBA students who advanced to the final round of competition in the Purdue Krannert School of Business Annual Global Supply Chain Management Case Analysis Competition. 

Under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Ray Gehani and Dr. John Hebert, two teams from The University of Akron submitted case analyses. A total of 28 teams, representing MBA schools from the United States, Canada, China and other countries, competed in a Phase-1 virtual elimination round.  The case analysis reports were blind reviewed by global supply chain experts. 

Six teams were advanced to the final Phase-2 round:

  • The University of Akron (Team ZippieZ),
  • Indiana University (Team Streamline),
  • University of Michigan (2 teams), and
  • University of Minnesota (2 teams). 

The UA team beat teams from several well known MBA programs including University of Virginia, Michigan State, Purdue, University of Rochester, Boston University, UNC, Duke, USC, Vanderbilt and Carnegie Mellon.  

Team ZippieZ Finalists include MBA students Scott Garnick, Ashley Barta, Cinthya Bustillo, Aasmund Michalson, and Laura Wallerstein.   

The UA team will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana this week to compete in the final round.  The winning team will receive a $5,000 cash award.
