Incoming Freshmen Scholarships
The College of Business Administration has several scholarships available for incoming freshmen who plan to pursue a major in the college.
Listed below are the award criteria for each scholarship. For additional information, click on “Full Description.”
Application for all Incoming Freshmen Scholarships
Joyce Wortman Barnett Endowed International Business Scholarship for Excellence
- Direct admission to the CBA
- Strong academic background
- International business major
The Margaret (Zink) Brewster Scholarship in International Business
- Direct admission to the CBA
- International business major
The H. Peter Burg Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen
- Resident of the Akron area
- Preference to graduates of Stow High School or St. Vincent-St. Mary High School
- High school GPA of at least 3.2
Kenneth L. Calhoun Scholarship for Excellence in Finance
- Direct admission to the CBA
- Finance major
George W. Daverio Freshman Scholarship
*No application – recipients selected from list of incoming Accounting majors*
- Graduate of an area high school
- Direct admission to the CBA by the end of the first week of February
- Accounting major
The Flora G. Flint Endowed Scholarship
- Female
- High school GPA of at least 3.0.
Karen Frey Scholarship
- Graduate of a Catholic high school with preference to graduates of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School
- High school GPA of at least 3.0.
The Donald S. Hills Endowed Scholarship Fund in the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy
*No application – recipients selected from list of incoming Accounting majors*
- Direct admission to the CBA by the end of the first week of February
- Accounting major
The Russell R. and Vivienne S. Johnstone Scholarship
- Financial need
The Peggy and Bill Maltarich Jr. Endowed Business Scholarship in Excellence
- Direct admission to the CBA
The R.C. and Katharine Musson Endowment Fund in the College of Business Administration
- Direct admission to the CBA
- Strong academic background
Isidore C. and Penny W. Myers Scholarship
- First preference to employee of Myers industries, Inc. or child or grandchild of an employee
- If there are no applicants from Myers’ Industries, Inc., the general applicant pool of CBA students may be considered
The Charlotte Ostroff Memorial Scholarship
- Direct admission to the CBA
- Admission to the Honors College
The Richard C. Rea, CPA, Scholarship Fund
*No application – recipients selected from list of incoming Accounting majors*
- Direct admission to the CBA by the end of the first week of February
- Residency in a county in which Rea and Associates Inc. has an office
- Accounting major
Galen J. Roush Memorial Scholarship
- Accounting or finance major Incoming freshmen:
- direct admission to the CBA
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.6
- Completion of certain course requirements
The Dr. Frank L. Simonetti Endowed Scholarship
- Human resource management, Management information systems or Supply chain/operations management major
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.4
- Significant potential as future business leaders as evidenced by academic success, civic involvement and community efforts
The Robert D. and Peggy A. Weed Scholarship for Excellence in Business
- Direct admission to the CBA
- Strong academic background
Bernard F. Zaucha Endowed Scholarship for Excellence
- Graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School, with first preference to accounting majors.
The Deena Jo Heide-Diesslin Foundation Challenge Match Scholarship
- The Deena Jo Heide-Diesslin Foundation and the CFP® Board Center for Financial Planning welcome students who can demonstrate financial need and are from underrepresented populations within the financial services profession (race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and/or disability) to apply for our scholarship.
