Help Preserve History: Consider the Archives this Giving Tuesday
Over the past year, we’ve celebrated the Cummings Center’s 60-year legacy—reflecting on our foundations and the profound impact our collections have had on research, teaching, and public understanding. As we enter our seventh decade, our focus is clear: excellence in preserving, caring for, and expanding the Archives of the History of American Psychology.
Our Vision
Working alongside architects and preservation experts, we’ve developed a comprehensive plan to upgrade our storage facility. These renovations will create a state-of-the-art, temperature- and humidity-controlled, waterproof environment, ensuring the long-term protection of the documents, media, and artifacts entrusted to us.
This transformation will not only safeguard our current collections but also prepare for future growth, optimizing capacity so we can continue adding new materials to the historical record.
The total cost of this project is $3.1 million. With your help, I know we can make this vision a reality.

Your Gift Will Be Matched
We are thrilled to announce a $1 million matching gift challenge for the Archives Renovation Initiative. Thanks to the generosity of Andrew M. Cummings and Julie Hellberg Cummings, every dollar you give—up to $1 million—will be matched dollar for dollar. Meeting this match will unlock a transformative gift and put us more than halfway toward our goal.
Together, we can ensure the long-term preservation of the papers, artifacts, and media that tell the story of more than a century of psychology.
