June Safety Focus: Clean Lab Sink Cabinets

This safety focus will help enhance safety for our PFOC workers (the people who fix everything). When pipes break, PFOC workers respond to the campus and need to access the water shut off valves. Many of these workers are not familiar with our building because they work in other areas on campus. They do not know the hazards of our labs.

We had another significant flood 2 weeks ago and the cabinet under the sink in the lab was already clean and neat. This allowed the PFOC worker to quickly access the water shut off and stop further damage.

Many sink cabinets are not clean and are cluttered with old samples, broken equipment and chemicals. Please take a few minutes this month and clean out the sink cabinets. They can still be used as storage but packed full.

NEXT MONTH: BATTLE OF THE LABS!!! This is a good start to your lab clean up!

Make it a Safer Day!
