Ways to Give
Cash = Gifts can be made to the University by cash, check (made payable to The University of Akron Foundation) or by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).
You now can give online using our secure online giving site.
If you prefer to mail a check, please make your check payable to The University of Akron Foundation and write the designation on the memo line.

Phoned-in credit card gifts can be made by calling weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please call Eric Ryan at 330-972-7967 or Tari Spataro at 330-972-5371.
All gifts will be acknowledged with a receipt for your tax-filing purposes.
Securities = Use appreciated securities, such as stocks and bonds, to make a gift. With certain limitations, you can deduct the full fair market value of long-term appreciated securities. Arrange for an electronic transfer with select brokers and dealers.
- For 2021 tax eligibility, all transfers must be received in UA’s brokerage account on or before Dec. 31. Please work with your broker early to meet this deadline.
Real estate = Can include personal residences, farms, vacation homes, commercial buildings or undeveloped parcels of land and can be for the entire property or a fractional interest.
Personal property = Can include such items as works of art, antiques, books, gems or precious stones, etc. Each gift item must be evaluated on an individual basis to determine whether it is related to the University's tax-exempt mission.
Gifts in kind = Can include such items as equipment, supplies, services, computer hardware and software, etc. Each gift item must be evaluated on an individual basis to determine whether it is related to the University's tax-exempt mission.
Matching gifts = Many companies offer programs where the gifts made by employees are matched. This benefit often applies to retirees, board members and employees' spouses as well.
IRA Rollover = Thank you for your interest in supporting The University of Akron with an IRA Charitable Rollover. Please note the following:
- Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA
- Have check made payable to The University of Akron Foundation.
- Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization.
- IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
- Please ensure the check identifies you and your designation of choice.

IMPORTANT: IRA Charitable Rollover checks sent directly from the custodian must be dated and postmarked on or before Dec. 31, 2021.
IRA Rollover Checkbooks enable individuals to facilitate their own gifts without requiring the custodian to process each check request. In the case of IRA Rollover Checkbooks, the year in which the check is deposited will dictate the year in which the gifted portion of your Required Minimum Distribution is applied and tax benefits are received.

Please use the tool below to direct gifts from your DAF account to The University of Akron Foundation.

- Indicate what you’d like your gift to support.

Held by a community foundation:
Please contact your DAF administrator directly to make a gift. Please provide them with your gift amount, designation, and have check made payable to The University of Akron Foundation (tax ID: 34-6575496).
