Carrie Fister, instructor (SSWE), was honored with the prestigious Athletic Trainer of the Year award by the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Fister is the first athletic trainer in the Sport Science and Wellness Education department to be bestowed with this honor. “It is very humbling to receive this award. I work with a lot of great athletic trainers that are very deserving of this award, so to be selected as a recipient is a great honor.  I love working with the students here at UA and it is nice to be recognized for my contributions to the athletic training profession,” says Fister.

Fister was nominated for the award by a fellow athletic trainer. Qualifications for this award included making contributions to the athletes and athletics at the state, district, and/or national level; supporting the profession of athletic training at the state, district, and/or national level and is a well-respected member of their community.

She has created educational opportunities for Athletic Training student in the state of Ohio that will be enjoyed by future students for decades to come,” said her nominator.

Fister will be awarded in two places this spring. First by the Ohio High School Athletic Association on March 23 and secondly by the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association  at  their annual meeting in May.
