Jeremy BrueckJeremy Brueck, associate director of the College of Education's Center for Literacy and a COE doctoral candidate, has been identified as one of Ohio's leading educational technology innovators. He is nominated for multiple #BestEdTech Awards, including the Collegiate Innovator Award and the Ohio Trendsetter Award, which will be presented at the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Board of Regent's annual educational technology conference. The 2014 Ohio Educational Technology Conference (#OETC14) will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center Jan. 27-29.

Brueck's work with ebooks in the early childhood and elementary classrooms has received national attention and been featured in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Akron Beacon Journal. His latest contribution to this field is an online graduate course, “Building Academic Vocabulary through Teacher and Student Created Ebooks.”

#OETC14 will recognize the work of schools, colleges, programs, teachers, administrators and technology coordinators. The winners of the #BestEdTech Awards will be announced on #OETC14 social media channels. The Ohio education community was asked to submit nominees for these awards, but voting is available to anyone connected via social media channels. You can vote for Jeremy online through Jan. 14.

"I'm proud to be nominated for a #BestEdTech award, but it would not be possible without the ongoing support and encouragement of my colleagues at the Center for Literacy as well as the great faculty and staff here at UA,” says Brueck. “I find tremendous value in collaborating with a team committed to delivering innovative transliteracy programs and services that positively impact teachers and students across the state.”
