Cooperative education = Big career advantage

Co-ops helped student land dream job

Pierre Hall’s success as a University of Akron student is an example of what can happen when preparation meets opportunity. When the electrical engineering major graduated from the University, he walked right into a job at General Motors Corp. in Michigan.

Thanks to the valuable combination of classroom knowledge and work experience he gained during two cooperative (co-op) education assignments, along with the comprehensive resources offered at The University of Akron, he’s jumping right onto the career fast track.

Research indicates that college students who engage in internships or co-ops are more likely to graduate and find employment in their desired careers shortly after graduation.

Pierre Hall, an electrical engineering major from Cleveland, describes the work he did during two co-ops.
