Zip Through Engineering at UA
The Zip Through Engineering program gives advanced high school students an opportunity to obtain a B.S. in Engineering degree from The University of Akron in only three years.* This program is available in all eight engineering majors within the College of Engineering.
Designed for students who have earned roughly two semesters of specific college course credit through Advanced Placement (AP) testing or College Credit Plus, the program is particularly beneficial to students who plan to pursue a graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) after graduation.
Students enrolled in the Zip Through Engineering program have the opportunity to participate in one or two paid co-operative education experiences. This co-operative education enhances and compliments classroom learning. Please note that many of the traditional UA engineering graduates participate in three paid co-operative education experiences, but complete their degree in five years (four years of classroom work plus one year of co-operative education).
The following AP or post secondary credit is necessary to follow this program:
AP English Language and
|AP Calculus BC||4,5|
|AP Physics C: Mechanics||3,4,5|
|AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism||3,4,5|
For exceptions to this listing or more information about the program, please contact Theresa Yogi or your college academic advisor.
*Students in the B.S Aerospace Systems Engineering program are required to complete four co-operative education experiences. Thus, the Zip Through Engineering program will require four years for students pursuing this major.
