IDEAS Advisory Council

The IDEAs Advisory Council is to provide a variety of opportunities to participate in the realization of the objective of the IDEAs program and thus to develop a close working relationship between engineering leaders in the greater Akron community, the state of Ohio and the nation, and the administration of the IDEAs program at the College of Engineering.  Activities and goals to be realized as a result of this relationship shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Philanthropy: To assist in the cultivation and solicitation of philanthropic resources and establish a multi-faceted fund raising program that will continue into the future.
  • Achievement: To provide financial and professional support to increase the number of students of color in the engineering professions, to design academic, professional and personal development plans, and to expand opportunities for students to find employment.
  • Enrollment and Retention: To set up scholarships in order to assist the IDEAs program to recruit outstanding students from the historically underrepresented students of color and retain a diverse pool of students.
  • Assessment: To assist the IDEAs program to assess learning outcomes related to inclusive excellence and the climate of diversity.
