I am happy to announce the publication of the first issue of First Year Voices. Three of our graduate students, Marlia Fontaine-Weisse, Ray Sarvis, and Rachel Roth, have worked very hard to put together this collection of writing from our first-year Composition Program.

The first issue has fifteen student essays in five categories: Writing about Culture, Writing about Experience, Writing about People and Places, Writing about Texts, and Writing to Evaluate. This issue will be especially useful for those of you teaching Composition I. Students always enjoy reading their peers' writing, and this journal is full of interesting essays and good models for discussion.
