Higher Order Thinking

Higher order thinking incorporates asking open ended questions of students, to illicit more thoughtful responses. In addition, HOT is about more than memorizing and restating facts, rather it supports understanding subjects and being able to apply the knowledge gained to other areas. One HOT strategy is by “thinking out loud” and talking through multi-step processes.
