Elyse Ball

Elyse Ball is the Assistant Counsel & Project Manager at University of Akron Research Foundation. Where she leads the National Science Foundation I-Corps program at The University of Akron, through which 400 people have learned about lean launchpad methods for launching a startup. She has initiated the creation of a $500,000 UARF "Spark Fund" to invest in helping technologies create the proof needed to launch scalable startups. Ball is involved in coaching faculty, students and area entrepreneurs on technology commercialization. In addition, she is Chief Operating Officer at OncoSolutions LLC in the Cleveland area. Where she provides strategic guidance and oversight of company operations and assists with fundraising activities. Ball has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University and a Doctor of Law from Boston University.


Joe Fox

Dr. Joseph Fox is the Director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Management at The University of Akron. Dr. Fox has been active in the startup community for over a decade. He conducts research on the process of raising capital, expectations of investors and entrepreneurs, iatrogenic effects, as well as how entrepreneurs learn in their environment. His work has been featured at various academic conferences and journal like Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy and the European Journal of Marketing.


Jim Griggy

Jim Griggy is currently a business advisor for the Small Business Development Center in the Bounce Building, where he advises all types of small businesses; including tech start-ups, manufacturers, retail stores restaurants, services, and microenterprises. Before joining the Summit Medina Business Alliance, Mr. Griggy was employed by SRA International, the franchisor of Sanford Rose Associates executive recruiting offices. His last position with SRA was director of finance where he was in charge of accounting, finance, franchise compliance, risk management, and intellectual property. Mr. Griggy holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in French, all from The University of Akron. Jim has also completed some graduate coursework in Labor Economics and French.
