The Department of Geography and Planning at The University of Akron runs an active internship program; placing graduate and undergraduate students in challenging internships in Northeast Ohio, and some outside the state during summer session. Students are currently interning at City of Akron Planning and Development, Davey Resource Group, Stark County Regional Planning Agency, The University of Akron's physical facilities, police department, and library system, LEEDCo, and Asian Inc.. Students work at a variety of tasks including urban planning, neighborhood stabilization, mapping and GIS, public policy, stormwater management, and research. The experience as a student intern is often invaluable in securing permanent employment in the geography field after graduation.

Interested students or employing agencies may contact Marlene Harmon at for complete details.
