Graduate student development


To provide University of Akron students with a competitive edge in applying to graduate programs and matriculating through graduate school. To facilitate the engagement of undergraduate and graduate students in professional development, original research, scholarly activities and creative opportunities relative to their respective discipline. To work closely with faculty mentors and departments to expand student development opportunities.

The services provided in the Office of Graduate Student Development have been designed to improve year-to-year persistence to graduation and graduation rates, post-graduation job or professional program placement for both undergraduate and graduate students and to increase the number of underrepresented students in graduate programs. Students who take advantage of the Pre-Graduate Student Services and Graduate Student Services, offered here in the Office of Graduate Student Development, will be better prepared to succeed in graduate school and in future professional positions.
