Destiny Huggins will be the student speaker at the Spring Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. She is graduating with a B.A. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Graduate: North High School in Akron
What’s next? Earning an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology at The University of Akron.
Q: How are you going to spend your time between graduation and what’s next?
A: I will continue working for Summa Health Systems as a certified medical assistant. I love my job, as I get to travel to different offices, learn new things and meet new people.
Q: Best advice you ever got from a professor?
A: The best advice I got from a professor was to quit second-guessing myself. I do it very often, and sometimes I doubt my own potential. I’ve learned that I can not only be myself, but also be comfortable and confident in who I am.
Q: What’s your advice to incoming freshmen?
A: If I had any advice to offer to incoming freshmen, it would be to take advantage of as much help as you can. The University offers all kinds of tutoring, and there are different departments, such as the Career Center, that can help you become a better professional in your field. There are plenty of people on campus that want to help you succeed, you are not alone!
