Elliot Georgiadis will be the student speaker at the Spring Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m. She is an honors student graduating with a dual major in education and history, summa cum laude.

Q: What’s your advice to incoming freshmen?
A: “Get involved! This is an incredible and unique time in your life, so take advantage of everything The University of Akron has to offer. The Akron Experience is a powerful thing, and should you let it, can be life changing. There are so many opportunities to grow as a student and a person on this campus, don’t hesitate to step outside your comfort zone and make new connections!”
Q: How do you describe your Akron Experience?
A: To put it simply, incredible! I am so thankful for the opportunities and experiences I have had while at The University of Akron, as they have truly changed my life. I will be leaving with life-long friendships and picture-perfect memories. Even more than that, I will leave knowing that I am prepared for whatever the next chapter of my life may bring. This is because I have been so well prepared by my university. From its challenging courses, to supportive professors and advisers, and countless opportunities to grow as a person, I know I am able to handle whatever comes next. I am a firm believer in the power of the Akron Experience.
Q: What’s your ultimate career goal?
A: To teach high school government and economics and run my own volleyball program.
