Our advising team makes it easy for you to declare a history major or to add a second major or minor in history. Many students can even count courses they've already taken in other programs toward their major or minor.

The History Department matriculates a small class of new graduate students each August; our program’s size ensures individualized attention and considerable flexibility in designing one’s plan of study. Faculty and graduate students meet regularly for conversations about historical research and about the craft of teaching history.

Graduate Certificate Programs

Get a History B.A. & M.A. in 5 Years

After successfully completing our five-year accelerated program, students will receive a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree in history. In this cost-effective program, students are even eligible for a graduate assistantship in the fourth and fifth years.
