Official Contest Rules for “Downtown Akron, One Clue at a Time!”
You are eligible to enter the contest if you have confirmed your enrollment at The University of Akron (UA) for the fall 2020 semester.
Immediate family members (parents, spouses, siblings, children, step-siblings, step-children and in-laws, regardless of where they reside) and/or those living in the same household of any UA employee, related or not, are not eligible to receive a prize.
The official entry period is from July 13, 2020, to Sept. 13, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winner will be announced on Sept. 15, 2020.
To submit an entry: Download the GooseChase app (from the App Store or Google Play) and join the game titled “Downtown Akron, One Clue at a Time!” Using the GooseChase app, complete the missions outlined in “Downtown Akron, One Clue at a Time!”
On Sept. 15, 2020, the names of contest participants will be entered into a random drawing. One (1) person will be selected for each category of prize. Odds of winning depend on the number of contest participants. Selected names will be announced on the uakron.edu/downtown website.
All contestants will receive a University of Akron T-shirt. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Contest Rules there will be awarded, one (1) Prize Package #1: UA Prize Package – Courtesy of The University of Akron Bookstore; and one (1) Prize Package #2: City of Akron Prize Package – Courtesy of Downtown Akron Partnership. On Sep. 15, 2020, one (1) participant will be selected from a drawing to receive each prize package based on number of completed scavenger hunt entries. Odds of winning depend on the number of contest participants . Selected names will be announced on the uakron.edu/downtown website on Sept. 15, 2020.
All taxes on the prizes are the sole responsibility of each winner.

By participating in this challenge, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the University Officials, which are final in all matters relating to this drawing, and the laws of the State of Ohio. A prize won by an eligible minor will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian. By entering, you authorize UA, in its sole discretion, to share your entry on its social media pages (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook), and official website.
Entries may not contain any image or depiction of the following: (i) materials which include or constitute trademarks, trade names or copyrighted works created or owned by any person or entity other than entrant or for which the entrant has obtained owner’s written permission to use; (ii) materials bearing profanities, or bearing the name or likeness of any celebrity, living or dead; (iii) materials which contain visible identifiable or potentially identifiable information, including but not limited to, phone numbers, website links, street addresses, email addresses or license plate numbers; (iv) inappropriate behavior for a general audience; (v) any depiction of real or simulated sexual acts; (vi) violence in any form; (vii) materials which violate anyone’s reasonable privacy expectations, violate any known agreement, or which are defamatory in nature; (viii) materials which are derogatory to UA, or any affiliated entity or person; (ix) materials which are discriminatory based on race, religion, national origin, physical disability, age, sex, or sexual orientation or preference; (x) materials in which any person identifiably appears unless entrant has obtained an appropriate written release from such person granting all rights required herein; and, (xi) materials which do not comply with all other requirements in these Official Rules. Reviews that do not conform to these guidelines will be deleted and no entry will be generated.
UA reserves the right to reject or disqualify any review which UA, at its sole discretion, determines to be inconsistent with the letter or spirit of the Official Rules or potentially damaging to its, the Contest’s, or another’s image or reputation. Once submitted, a review cannot be deleted, canceled or modified. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized Instagram account holder.
By participation in this drawing and/or accepting prize, all entrants and winners agree to release and hold harmless The University of Akron, its Board of Trustees, directors, officers, employees and agents, including without limitation its advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all claim, loss, damage or expense incurred with respect to the use of the video submission, award, receipt, possession, use or misuse of any prize and/or participation in the challenge. By submitting the video I am representing that I have the rights to the video submission and have the legal right to transfer those rights to the University.
By submitting an entry, I give the University its assigns, licensees, and legal representatives, the irrevocable right to use the submitted video, and/or picture, portrait, photograph, likeness and statements made in the video for any commercial or marketing purposes without additional compensation, royalty free, in perpetuity, and agree to participate in publicity of the contest.
