Porter: Fans' passion makes FirstEnergy stadium tough on rivals

11/15/2012

Coach Caleb Porter credits the Akron fans, and especially the AK-Rowdies, for helping make FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field one of the most inhospitable venues in college soccer.

"One reason we've been nearly unbeatable at home is the Rowdies," Porter says. "They are the 12th man."

Akron fans are passionate, and that was apparent on social media when the Zips were awarded the fifth seed in the tournament despite being ranked No. 1 in the country and No. 2 in the RPI. We've used Storify to collect fans' reactions.
