Legal Aid eligible clients are provided with simple estate planning documents: Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney, and Living Wills through clinics held each quarter in Summit, Stark, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. Law Students will be provided with the opportunity to prepare drafts of estate planning documents based on information provided in an “estate planning application” form completed by the client. Students are responsible for reviewing the completed application and contacting clients for additional information as necessary. In addition, students are responsible for scheduling clients into the next appropriate clinic. Students are also provided with an opportunity to meet with clients and to assist attorneys at a clinic when possible. The clinics are a collaboration between Legal Aid, the Akron Bar Association, and private practice Attorneys. The Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP) is a program at Community Legal Aid that works with private attorneys willing to donate their time and talent to Legal Aid clients for little or no fee. If you are interested in volunteering for this project, please contact Cindy Adair at the Volunteer Legal Services Program at firstname.lastname@example.org or 330-983-2534.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or would like additional information, please contact Professor Joann Sahl in the legal clinic: email@example.com or 330-972-7189
