Biography

Cara Staley, Esq. is a Law Clerk for The Honorable John R. Adams, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Ohio.  Prior to coming to the court, she was an attorney in private practice, focusing on employment law, complex business disputes, insurance law, personal injury, domestic relations, and toxic tort.  She served as first chair for numerous jury and bench trials, including cases seeking verdicts of over a million dollars. Prof. Staley co-founded the Women in Law Section of the Akron Bar Association and was awarded the 2007 Volunteer Lawyer of the Year by Summit County Community Legal Aid.  She is a Board Member for the Akron Law Alumni Association and is fluent in both written and spoken Spanish.

Prof. Staley earned her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in International Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2001, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.  She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from The University of Akron School of Law in 2004.
