Professor Alan Newman received the 2012 Outstanding Professor of the Year Award at The University of Akron School of Law 2012 commencement ceremony.

Each year, members of the law school's graduating class nominate professors for the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award. The class then selects from among the top nominees and presents the award at the law school's commencement ceremony.

“The students’ appreciation for this professor is not only based on the knowledge and command of the law but also for the genuine kindness and the positive attitude and cheerful smile brought to every class,” said outgoing SBA (Student Bar Association) President Jennifer Ellison. “As a previous five-time recipient of this award, this professor has shown his unwavering commitment to his students and continues to be an outstanding example of integrity, professionalism and intelligence making him again, worthy of this honor.”

Newman joined the Akron Law faculty in 1996. He teaches courses in wills, trusts and estates and accounting and finance from a lawyer's perspective.
