Exams in this class may be proctored. Please refer to the course syllabus for assessment guidelines. The most common types of proctoring include utilizing a software called Respondus LockDown Browser & Monitor for remote proctoring, the University of Akron’s Computer-Based Testing Center or a branch campus by appointment, or via a video conferencing system like Microsoft Teams.

It will be your responsibility to obtain an acceptable proctor in accordance with the guidelines specified in each course. If you are required to have an in-person proctor, The NCTA Proctoring Network is a free referral service provided by the National College Testing Association (NCTA). It is your responsibility to secure proctor approval in advance of the first proctored exam. Check the course calendar for test dates. Information about all of these options is below.

If not taking your tests in a proctored lab, you may be required to download Respondus LockDown Browser & Monitor before taking your tests for this course. View more information on Using Respondus Monitor, including directions on how to download and install it on the computer you will be using: https://uakron.edu/learn/ols/instructional-tech/lockdown-browser

You can view instructions on Respondus Monitor as well as a required example quiz to test the software in the Course Orientation module in Brightspace. This activity is often ungraded, but is intended for you to practice using the technology before having to complete an actual assessment.

Proctored Lab Options

For all University of Akron proctored labs, the following is required:

  • A clear, legible UA Zip Card is required for admittance to all Test Centers, and will be the only form of identification accepted.
  • For the Akron Campus Test Center, students may use RegisterBlast to schedule an appointment for their exam by signing in with UANET ID and password here.
  • Walk-ins are allowed, but are not guaranteed a time slot. If you choose to walk in, you will need to make sure there is enough time in the lab hours to complete your test, or wait in line.
