The Traditional Arabic Market

It takes talent to shop in a traditional market whether it is in Damascus, Aleppo, San’aa or Egypt.

In this kind of market, the buying and selling takes place through bargaining. This activity, done in a 202 Arabic class, included the presence of authentic Arabic clothing.   Students are asked to play the role of a merchant and a buyer while shopping for the traditional clothes. With this activity they were able to acquire the skills of negotiating and bargaining while shopping using their Arabic communication skills.
