Program Scholarships

The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences will have a number of scholarships of varying amounts available to students each academic year. To be eligible for the scholarship students must already be in one of the programs within the school. Preference will be given to students who will be juniors or seniors during each academic year.  

Nutrition and Dietetics Scholarships

The University of Akron Nutrition and Dietetic Programs Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship

Due March 1.

This scholarship was created in 2004 to recognize the importance and need for qualified dietitians in the health care communities throughout Ohio and the nation. An annual award of $500 or more will be presented to a deserving student(s) who is majoring in a qualifying program at The University of Akron. (Students in the Coordinated Program are ineligible to apply for the scholarship). 

To be eligible, a student must have a minimum of junior or senior status at The University of Akron during the semester in which the award will be paid; pursue a declared major in nutrition and dietetics; demonstrate outstanding academic performance as evidenced by his or her academic transcript with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; show professional promise through a track record of involvement in professional work or community activities related to the field of nutrition and dietetics; and demonstrate leadership and teamwork. Based on the aforementioned criteria, The University of Akron Nutrition/Dietetic Programs Advisory Board will select a recipient. 

The University of Akron Nutrition/Dietetic Programs Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship will be promoted in all literature concerning awards, and in presentations to prospective students. The University of Akron Nutrition/Dietetic Programs Advisory Board will present the award, and The University of Akron will publicize each award with mention of the Dietetic/Nutrition programs.
