The Office of Academic and Retention Support (OARS) provides workshops to help you prepare for tests, improve your study skills and become a leader.


Confirm your enrollment.

You should confirm your enrollment as soon as possible.

We have designed a special program for our Akron Rises Scholars to provide support and guidance outside of the classroom.

Akron Rises Scholars agree to:

  • Meet with academic advisor at least twice a semester
  • Enroll in 12 credit hours per semester
  • Enroll in an Akron Experience course during the first semester
  • Encouraged/supported to maintain a 2.3 GPA to ensure progress toward their degree
  • Participate in required social and educational programming which includes:
    • Meet with Akron Rises Scholars coordinator to create an Individual Success Plan
    • Complete two progress reports per semester (if GPA is below a 2.3, complete three to four)
    • Participate in tutor/mentor program
    • Attend Akron Rises events (career development, leadership development, personal development opportunities)
