The University of Akron School of Music's All-Steinway Piano Campaign seeks to purchase Steinway and Steinway-manufactured Boston pianos to replace the pianos used in our rehearsal rooms, teaching studios, classrooms, practice studios, and Guzzetta Recital Hall.
All of our pianos are in constant use, and many are worn out. Some of the pianos that need to be replaced are more than 75 years old.
Did you know?
Steinways are the only concert-quality pianos still manufactured in the United States.
And, an Ohio company is at the heart of Steinway pianos: the O.S. Kelly Company in Springfield, Ohio, manufactures the crucial cast-iron plate in every Steinway.
The Steinway & Sons name has been synonymous with the finest pianos since 1853. A high level of traditional craftsmanship, painstaking attention to detail, and premium grade materials used are attributes of every instrument hand crafted in New York and Hamburg.
A Steinway grand piano consists of more than 12,000 single pieces. Handcrafting a Steinway requires up to one full year. More than 1,400 concert pianists worldwide choose Steinway as their performance instrument.
For educators and students alike, the Steinway series of pianos provide the foundational tools for instruction in all musical disciplines.
