Letter from Kelsey Kehoe , PHC VP of Recruitment

Welcome to the Zips family! Let me first congratulate you upon your interest in Sorority Life here at the University of Akron. I am greatly pleased to share with you my passion and experience within the Panhellenic Council. Get ready, because you are about to embark upon the best years of your life and gain memories that you will never forget!

It is here that you will gain the knowledge and understanding of what it truly means to be a Greek Woman. A sorority is more than just letters on a sweatshirt, it is an organization where you will find life-long friendships, the skills to succeed, a deeper appreciation for the world around you, and a true love for yourself. Our five sororities were founded on similar values of academic excellence, leadership development, philanthropic and community involvement, and sisterhood that lasts a lifetime. Each chapter is unique and has something special to offer its members. Without one another, we could not be the great sorority community that we are.

Each semester, the Panhellenic community’s grade point average is above that of the all-women’s grade point average, showing our dedication to academics.  Sorority women are involved in a variety of other student organizations and continue to be leaders both in and out of the classroom.  Last year, the five Panhellenic sororities raised over $30,000 for charity through our various philanthropic activities and donated over 9,000 hours of time towards community service!

Our recruitment theme, “Panhellenic Love” expresses how all of our sororities share a unique bond with the letters we wear. Even though our rituals, symbols and traditions are different, we have a share a common connection with the similar values we were founded upon. Throughout sorority recruitment, we hope to share with you the traditions we cherish, a glimpse at the ceremonies that mean so much to us, and the reason why we love being sorority women.

As the Panhellenic Vice President of Recruitment, I am proud to represent Greek Life for my university and I encourage you to take the first step into adding a new chapter to your story. May this be your stepping stone into finding love in letters. I look forward to showing you all that The University of Akron’s Sorority Life has to offer during sorority recruitment this Fall semester!
