ecrt Training

The University of Akron has an online, web-based effort reporting system for sponsored grants called ecrt (effort certification and reporting technology). Faculty certifiers must understand how to review & certify the effort cards created by the ecrt system. Effort coordinators must understand how to process certified cards with large variances and how to follow up on uncertified cards past their due date.

• If you are a designated effort coordinator for your department, review the Effort Coordinator's Documentation header below. You should also review the Certifier’s Documentation in order to understand the complete process & provide assistance to the faculty.

How to find Effort Statement instructions (steps) within ecrt	Click on any statement appearing in your Work List in ecrt.  At the top of the page that opens, locate [-] Effort Statement Instructions. Click on the [-] to open the steps.

How to find Process a Card steps within ecrt	Click on the Effort Tasks tab in ecrt. Then click any row that starts with “Process.” On the page that opens, the basic steps appear in bold above the first gold bar.
