Academic Encouragers

This course has been designed specifically for Academic Encouragers – to provide an overview of the tasks needed for their job.  The following lessons will be covered: review a student profile, create an advising report, review notes, review advising reports, the advising summary report and exporting report data to Excel.


Advanced Query

Duration: 45 – 60 minutes

This is the second of two seminars on using the Query Manager in PeopleSoft version 9. These two seminars are intended for users who are new to writing queries against the SA/HR database. Both the Intro and Advanced courses should be completed if security access is needed to create and modify queries. In the Advanced Query course, you will learn to:

  • Join Tables
  • Copy an Existing Query
  • Delete a Query
  • Use Aggregate Functions, such as Count

Advising

This online course is a pre-requisite to the granting of Advising Security access.  The course provides an overview of the various training resources available to advisors, as well as a demonstration of the Advising self-service process.  

Quiz Requirement: A passing score of 80% or higher is required in order to obtain credit for completing the course. You may repeat the quiz as many times as necessary.


Budget Reports & Inquiry

Review the Budget management procedures in PeopleSoft, version 9.1.  You will print Budget Reports, export Budget data to Excel and inquire on Budgets.

Department Course Scheduling

A review of the procedures and rules to follow when creating and maintaining the schedule of classes for your department.  Topics include adding and deleting class sections and scheduling new courses.  Completion of this course is required in order to obtain the security to maintain the schedule of classes for your department.

dotCMS

This course is for new users of dotCMS.  You will learn how to create an HTML page, create content, link content to HTML pages, edit content and delete and archive content and pages.


EmpCenter: Schedules for Supervisors of SBU Employees

This course is for Supervisors of Staff Bargaining Unit (SBU) employees.  The use of schedules allows for tardy tracking and shift differential premiums.  The course will demonstrate the following:

Important Information:  Part-time faculty teaching four credits or less do NOT need to record their time in EmpCenter.  

If an employee has both a full-time and part-time position (i.e. full-time contract professional and part-time faculty), the employee does NOT need to report their time for the part-time position.

Financials Introduction

Duration: 45 – 60 minutes

This course will introduce the features of Financials - PeopleSoft version 9.2. You will learn menu navigation, terminology, setting and organizing favorites in PeopleSoft, the report printing process by using the Requisition Print report, review inquiring on a Requisition, Purchase Order or Voucher and receive instructions for customizing the inquiry pages.  This course is intended as a pre-requisite for either the Requisitions for New Users or Budget Reports and Inquiry for New Users courses. If you add requisitions to PeopleSoft, you also will need the Requisitions for New Users class. If you review and print Budget data, it is recommended that you take the Budget Reports and Inquiry for New Users class.


HCM Inquiry and Query Manager

This course is for those individuals who need to use HR data and create queries using HR data in PeopleSoft version 9. New users and experienced users, who want to refresh their knowledge, can benefit from this course. It is recommended that you be familiar with basic navigation in version 9 before taking this course. NOTE: This class does not review TAARS. Training for TAARS is available online.  In this course, you will:

  • Review the restrictions on the use of employee personal information
  • Review the UA Directory Information, Personal Data and Job Data pages
  • Discuss additional HR data available with the appropriate security
  • Review Effective Dating of employee records
  • Create a query, using the UA_Employees table
  • Create and edit criteria
  • Download the query data to Excel
  • Use the mail merge wizard in word to create labels with the data

HCM Intro and Navigation

Introduction to Campus Solutions

This course is for NEW users of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (formerly Student Administration, SA).  A brief overview is presented on how The University of Akron uses PeopleSoft to manage student administration data. You will learn menu navigation, terminology, setting favorites, creating new windows, searching for pages and using the download tool. You will review common student data inquiries (such and FERPA, Service Indicators, Student Demographic Information, Student Program/Plan, Student’s Schedules) and receive information on common navigation paths.


Introduction to Query

Nolij Web

This course is for new users of version 6.7 of Nolij Web. The University of Akron is using Nolij Web to image, annotate, retrieve and manage our large volume of documents. In this course, you will learn:

  • How to get started with Nolij Web
  • How security and your roles affect what you can do and view
  • To efficiently use the Nolij Web interface for inquiries and for scanning
  • Skills to manage and modify document images
  • To search for a student’s folder

PeopleSoft Requisitions

This course will review the Requisition Entry Process for requisitions entered in PeopleSoft Version 9.2. The topics covered in this class are: Life Cycle of a Requisition, Adding a New Requisition, Printing a Requisition, Recalling a Requisition, and Requisition Inquiry. This course is required in order to be granted security access to add requisitions in Peoplesoft. Prior to attending this Requisitions course, it is recommended that you also complete the Financials Introduction course which provides an overview of working in PeopleSoft Version 9.2.

Recruiting Solutions - Hiring Process Manager (HPM)

PeopleSoft Recruiting Solutions is the University's online tool to improve the hiring processes. This course is for the Hiring Process Manager, who enters and views the data in PeopleSoft for the hiring process.  This course covers the process for staff, contract professionals and full-time faculty.  You will learn to:

  • Upon approval, create the job opening
  • Manage and update the job opening
  • Manage the applicants
  • Add and edit the attachments to the job opening
  • Request approval to schedule interviews
  • View where a job opening is in the process
  • For faculty positions, prepare the job offer and the applicant for hire in PeopleSoft

Student Accounts Overview

This course will provide an overview of student accounts.  The following modules are included in this course:  customer account activity, account details, academic information, service indicators, anticipated aid and tuition charges.  Completion of this course is required in order to be granted access to Student Account information.


ZipReports

Duration: 30 minutes

This online course will introduce you to ZipReports, which is a business intelligence tool.  ZipReports presents a collection of pre-defined queries and reports. It will allow you to access the most frequently requested student administration data that is stored in PeopleSoft.  As with all PeopleSoft data, your security level determines the data that you may view.  This course is required in order to be granted security access to run ZipReports.


General Course Information:

  • Pre-Requisites: Any pre-requisite listed for a course is recommended - lacking a pre-requisite will note prevent you from taking a course.
  • Audio: All online courses contain audio. For the best learning experience, make sure your speakers are turned up in order to listen to the audio portion of the course.
  • Course Duration: If you cannot complete the course in one sitting, you can close out and when you click on the link again (provided you are using the same computer and browser), it will prompt to restart where you left off.
  • Quiz: Most courses contain a quiz. If the course is required for the granting of security access, you must score at least an 80% to pass. You may use your notes, training manual, job aids, etc. to assist with the completion of the quiz. You can repeat the quiz as many times as necessary.
