Early Spring 2004 registration is in full swing. Several means to register are provided either through the Registration & Information Center at http://www.uakron.edu/registrar, through touch-tone registration at
(330) 972-8083 or in person at the Student and Administrative Services Building.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the early registration period prior to leaving for winter break in order to avoid the $100 Late Registration Fee that takes effect on January 12, 2004.

The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma invite all students, faculty, staff and community members to help keep those in need warm this winter through the 1st annual Kappa Cozies Blanket Drive.

Blankets can be dropped off at the Sudent Union Information Desk or the Kappa Kappa Gamma house, 237 Spicer St., between Monday, November 24, and Sunday, December 7.

All blankets collected will be distributed to those in need in the Akron area.

Provincial Hospitality Tour Nov. 24

There will be two informational meetings regarding the Spring Break Provincial Hospitality Tour on Monday, November 24, at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 306.

All faculty, staff, alumni and students from any major are invited to attend to learn more about this educational trip to Montreal and Quebec City, Canada, during the week of March 22, 2004. Options are currently available for a 6-day bus trip or a 5-day air trip.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the Thanksgiving Hunger Banquet on Monday, November 24, or Tuesday, November 25, in the Student Union, Ballroom A, beginning at 6:00 p.m. All who partake in this event will receive a meal and an opportunity to learn more about the issues of world hunger.

A $1 donation or 2 can food items is required. Proceeds will benefit the Akron/Canton Regional Food Bank.

Donations will also by accepted Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, at the Student Union Information Center for those who cannot attend.

Riverdance–The Original International Phenomenon–returns to The University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall for a six-day run Tuesday, November 25, through Sunday, November 30. This show has watered the roots of Irish dancing, creating a previously unimaginable excitement, drawing in a new generation and releasing new energies.

A special reduced rate of $15 is being offered to all UA students for the upcoming production of "Riverdance." These can be purchased ONLY at the E. J. Thomas Hall Ticket Office two hours before showtime. The transaction must be cash only, with one discount per student ID. Tickets are subject to availability. The University of Akron’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division is offering a Basketball Officiating class beginning December 2. This class will prepare students to become registered high school basketball officials.

The class is scheduled December 2, 3 and 4 in the Polsky Building, Room 436, and December 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 in Memorial Hall, Room 203, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $129 plus a $35 text.

The Center for Conflict Management is proud to announce that the 48 students in this semester’s special topics course, Understanding Racial Conflict, invite the campus community to join them for an Open Forum on Racial Conflict on Wednesday, December 3, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Ballroom B.

This will be an entirely student-produced, interactive public forum. Students are encouraged to come share their thoughts and listen to peers share theirs. Forty-eight students of varying races, education levels and departments have been working in mixed groups on this project for the entire semester.

Study Program in Mexico Dec. 3

The Department of Modern Languages will be holding an informational meeting Wednesday, December 3, at 5:00 p.m. in Olin Hall, Room 375, for all students interested in learning more about the upcoming summer study program in Mexico.

This will be a 5-week program beginning June 26 and ending July 31, 2004. The program offers six undergraduate or graduate credits in Spanish and is open to persons who have completed at least the first year of college Spanish or the equivalent.

UA students generally and particularly students with at least two years of college Spanish are given priority for acceptance, but the program is open to students from other colleges and universities and to other qualified persons.

The deadline for application and $500 deposit is February 1, 2004.

1.) London Summer Program.
