Martin L King Jr. Activities Fair Jan. 19

spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The Office of Multicultural Development would like to invite student organizations to participate in the 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Activities Fair during the week of January 19 to celebrate the life legacy and hope of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The celebration will start with the activities fair on Monday, January 19, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. The theme of the day is Sharing the Dream. The Activities Fair is a community outreach event targeting children ages 5-17. Over the past four years this event has received strong community support. Last year over 600 people attended the fair.

In previous years organizations have participated by sponsoring some of the following:
1. What Martin Luther King Jr. means to me wall
2. Name badges with quotes
3. Face painting
4. African Dance Workshop
5. Popcorn and treats
6. Coloring Contest
7. Biographic information on Martin Luther King Jr.
8. Historical information on the Civil Rights Movement
9. Posters
10. Martin L. King Jr. pictorial gallery and other visual displays

The Office of Multicultural Development is looking for activities and information that encourage a non-violence philosophy, civic responsibility, respect for differences, a caring community, the importance of education and the courage to do “right.” Of course these are only examples of what can be done and all participants are encouraged to be creative. The most important thing is that each organization participates in Sharing of the Dream with those who may have not yet learned about the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

For more information or to get involved, please contact Dr. Lathardus Goggins II in the Office of Multicultural Development.
