Summer student parking permits
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Add a student parking permit fee to your student account when you register for classes (click the "Parking" link under the "Students" tab in Zipline) and it will be mailed to you before the summer semester begins, but make this request before Saturday, May 3rd, because after this date this option will no longer be available. Please note that less expensive permit options are available for students attending classes for only a portion of the summer, and these cannot be requested online; they must be purchased from the Parking Office. Graduate Assistants should use the employee application instead of Zipline.

Zip Card readers are now in use at all entrances and exits to the Quaker Square parking lot. Starting Monday, March 24, all gates to this lot will be lowered and anyone entering will be required to either use a Zip Card or take a guest ticket from the dispenser. All employees and students will have access to this lot, but a valid parking permit must still be displayed, as in any other lot on campus. We ask that University personnel park north of the Mill St. bridge so that Quaker Square guests will be able to use the area nearest the hotel.

Leader in personal spaceflight industry to speak
spacer image

spacer image
spacer image
Dr. Peter Diamandis, an international leader in the commercial space arena, will speak at about his X PRIZE Foundation and its plans to launch incentive competitions in the arenas of space, energy, environment and life sciences. The free talk, titled “The Best Way To Predict The Future Is To Create It Yourself,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 25 in the Student Union Ballrooms C and D. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Diamandis also will speak about the personal spaceflight industry and his companies Zero G, which provides weightless flight experiences, and Space Adventures, which is taking clients to the International Space Station.

The X Prize is a multi-million-dollar award given to the first team to achieve a specific goal, set by the X PRIZE Foundation, that has the potential to benefit humanity. Rather than awarding funds to honor past achievements or directly funding research, an X PRIZE is designed to spur innovation by tapping into competitive and entrepreneurial spirits.

“X PRIZE competitions have captured the imagination of people around the world and from all walks of life,” says UA President Luis Proenza. “Anyone with an interest in science, innovation and our future will benefit from Peter’s insights.”

Phyllis Heitjan is a rising star. At the tender age of 18, she completed her second album, Parallels, which was released on her own label Diamond Rock Music, lovingly named after a street in her suburban Philadelphia neighborhood. Phyllis’s songs blend beautiful, hooky melodies and poetic lyrics with her trademark choral harmonies. Her performances call to mind Sarah McLachlan, Michelle Branch, Tori Amos and The Corrs yet she maintains a remarkable sound that is all her own. Phyllis’s fan base is steadily growing as she gains airplay momentum on stations throughout the East Coast. While pursuing her music career, Phyllis is a member of Princeton University's class of 2010.
