The Division of Finance and Administration at the University is asking students to take this short survey that asks about the quality of the division's services.


Departments within the division include:

  • Dining Services (includes Rob’s, Starbucks, Zee’s, Auntie Anne’s, Union Market and others),

  • Student Accounts/Bursar,

  • Parking Services,

  • Retail Services (Planet Underground, Custom.U, Campus Palette, Grant Street Pier),

  • Materials Handling (includes Printing and Copying Services, and Mail Services), and

  • Payroll, among other departments.

  • Your opinions will be kept confidential. Survey results will be reported as a composite. The survey will be available until Friday, July 18.

    UA enhances services to veterans and active service members

    UA is making it easier for veterans, reservists, active service members and their dependents to attend UA through the new Military Services Center.

    Among other services, the center helps students:
    • enroll in classes;
    • locate any student services they might need;
    • complete and submit the required forms to the Veterans Administration to receive U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits; and
    • submit transcripts to receive credit for military experience and training.

    The Military Services Center’s Web site has more information.

    The center, in Simmons Hall 120, is part of the Office of the University Registrar and currently serves more than 450 service members and dependents. Direct any questions about the center to either 330-972-7838 or veterans@uakron.edu.

    Assistant Manager for Building Maintenance
    THE STUDENT UNION

    The Student Union: The Student Union is a 198,000 square foot facility that houses food shops, marketplace, bank, bookstore, convenience store, coffee house, student organization offices, game room, information center, computer lab and store, copy center, meeting rooms, program spaces, and administrative offices. The Building is approaching four years of use with the conclusion of the 2007 year. Close to 50,000 students and individuals use the Student Union on a weekly basis, providing for the necessity to maintain the building in pristine condition.

    The Maintenance and Technology Crew: The Maintenance and Technology crew is charged with the upkeep and care of the Student Union on the campus of The University of Akron. Students undertake various disciplines from simple tasks to advanced work. Virtually every aspect of maintenance and technology is covered including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, computers, and audio visual assistance.

    The Position: The Assistant Manager for Building Maintenance reports to the Maintenance LEGO Manager.

    Responsibilities: Characteristic duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Manager for Building Maintenance

    • Lamp inventory and replacement
    • Furniture repair
    • Complete maintenance forms
    • Preventative maintenance
    • Execute Tasks designed by LEGO Manager and Supervisor
    • Attend area meetings
    • Participate in Staff Activities
    • Role model appropriate behaviors as a Manager
    • Manage Crew members
    • Coordinate duties with the Assistant Director Custodial and Maintenance
    • Assist the Lego Manager with maintenance performance reviews
    • Maintain Game Room Machinery
    Desired skills and qualifications of the Maintenance Assistant

We are looking for 10-12 students to participate in each group. We will be offering food during the time you spend with us answering questions about your experiences here at UA.
