For students who live in nearby neighborhoods, UA police officers will come to your house or rental unit and conduct a free security survey to help you identify security measures that night reduce vulnerability to crimes. For example, the officers will:
  • test the adequacy of your locking system;
  • study all entry points and offer suggestions to improve their security; and
  • offer tips about exterior lighting and other tactics to deter would-be criminals.
To arrange for an audit of your residence, call the UAPD at 330-972-5914 (if no answer, please leave a message).

spacer image
UA has expanding one of its safety programs to help make your stay here at UA safer and less stressful.

The Campus Patrol program is here to help make sure you make it safely to or from your car, residence hall or class. Campus Patrol is now available to all students on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. – two hours longer than before. Just call 330-972-7263, and we’ll dispatch a police-trained patrol member to escort you to your destination on or near campus for free.

As you know, walking alone at night in any metropolitan area can pose its hazards. We recommend to everyone what you exercise caution when walking in any big city after dark. Use the buddy system — go with a friend. But if your friends have left a party or bar, we’d be happy to make sure you get back to your car or residence hall safely. And we’ll offer amnesty with regard to your sobriety. No questions asked. The important point is that you get home safely.

So put 330-972-7263 in your cell phone and call Campus Patrol when you need to find a safe way home.
