Come out TONIGHT or TOMORROW night for a showing of the Pineapple Express.

Synopsis:Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him--and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

Golden Key Initiation Nov. 9

spacer image
spacer image
To all current members of Golden Key!

We are currently planning our Fall Initiation for GK and could use everyone's help in making this a successful event! Because officers will be busy with the ceremony, speeches and presentation of certificates, we need other members to assist with set up, check in, crowd control, misc. task and clean up. We have a record number of people attending this event so we need current members to be there to welcome our new members and begin to get them involved! Induction starts at 2 but we need volunteers to arrive around 12:30 to help us start with set-up. If you have any time to help between 12:30 and 3:30 on November 9th please stop up to the SU Ballroom and lend a helping hand. It will be greatly appreciated by all and counts towards your participation for the semester! Please feel free to email me with any questions concerning this event. Thanks!

NOTE: We are also collecting items for our Holiday Project "Operation Christmas Child." Items will be packaged and sent to children in need. Please see our website at www.uakron.edu/group/gkihs/calendar or http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/occ/ for more information pertaining to this project.

Will Marfori knows what it is like for a person to live with a disability. He was born with Cerebral Palsy, but he doesn’t know how to allow this to keep him from entertaining audiences as he shares this experience and his unique perspective on life. Some people in Will’s life have told him, “You can’t do that …or you can’t do this.” Will has never stopped proving them wrong. Winner of the 2004 Carnival Comedy Challenge, he is now a featured comedian for Carnival Cruise Lines, as well as a staple in the college market. By the end of the show people don’t remember Will having Cerebral Palsy. They remember having a good time. He is not a disabled person who is funny…he’s a funny person who happens to be disabled.

Her combination of southern charm and intelligent humor captivate audiences and have them laughing, shouting and singing along. Fans of the Americana/folk tradition identify with her breezy storytelling while audiences of mainstream pop/rock sing along to her catchy, confessional original songs. Recently, she performed on ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, and has toured with national acts such as Sophie B. Hawkins, Ellis Paul, Halcyon, and classic rock legend America.

Open your mind and discover the everyday life of a woman in Saudi Arabia. This experience will be open to all women, who want to learn about the traditional lifestyle; who want to sort out the myths from the facts; and learn about the role of Saudi women from Saudi women. One of the reasons for this event is many of our Saudi female students believe that American women think the women of Saudi Arabia are discriminated against. These Saudi women do not feel they are discriminated against and want to have a session to answer questions and show how they live. This event is for women and girls only! Due to the nature of this event, no males may be present.

This event is sponsored by the female Saudi Arabian students at The University of Akron and the Office of International Programs in honor of International Education Week.
