The Psychology Archives invites you to the second installment of the spring colloquium series on Thursday, March 5th from 12:30 – 2:00 pm in Room 335 of the Student Union. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Marigold Linton to The University of Akron campus for an inspiring talk “Living a Life, Archiving a Life.”

Dr. Linton overcame enormous obstacles to become one of the first American Indians to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. She is Cahuilla and grew up on the Morongo Indian Reservation in Southern California and is the first California reservation Indian to attend a university.

Dr. Linton received her B.A. from the University of California, Riverside and her Ph.D. in experimental psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1964. Dr. Linton is Director of American Indian Outreach at The University of Kansas and adjunct biomedical research liaison at Haskell Indian Nations University. She is Past President of SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science). Dr. Linton’s main research area involves the examination of very long-term memory.

As Director of American Indian Programs at Arizona State University, Dr. Linton worked with all the tribes in Arizona to improve math/science education. Her distinguished career has included major roles in creating programs that have enabled many American Indians to earn advanced degrees in the sciences.

Please contact Dorothy Gruich at 330-972-7285 or gruich@uakron.edu with any questions or visit our website at http://www3.uakron.edu/ahap. WE VANT YOUR BLOOOOOD!!! March 10
11:00 am - 5:00 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
There are 57 hospitals in Northeastern Ohio alone. Each day these hospitals need to be supplied with 900 units of blood to save lives. These hospitals rely on people like you to donate your blood to help people in need.

If possible the American Red Cross would hold a blood drive everyday all day to get the amount of blood they need, but that cannot happen. So it is up to us to give them all the blood we can on March 10th! Help out the American Red Cross and the Ohio Student Nurses Association by donating blood on Tuesday March 10th from 11am to 5pm in the Recreation and Wellness Center (room 246) at the University of Akron. You can stop by in between classes or make an appointment online at www.givelife.org.

Here is the information to schedule an appointment online:

Donors log on to www.givelife.org and enter sponsor code “__akronu__”.
Click on the time they prefer, e-donor then takes them back to login. At this point they login with their e-mail and password, or if they have not already done so they need to create a profile (takes less than 30 seconds). They will then be taken back to the schedule where they will click on the appointment time that they want again.
