For the first time ever, season tickets will be available for University of Akron men's soccer home games this fall!!

For $50, fans will gain access to all eight contests at Lee Jackson Field – including key match-ups against St. Louis, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State. Youth passes (ages 3-17) are available for $30.

Furthermore, in addition to the cost savings, all fans purchasing any season ticket will receive a complimentary Blue and Gold, two sided Akron Soccer Scarf. Click Link Below to See Scarf!

Jumpstart is hiring for next school year!

Jumpstart is an AmeriCorps program that recruits college students (of all majors) to mentor 3-5 year old children. Read stories, sing songs, and play games that support young children’s school readiness, language & literacy.

Earn a Federal Work-Study wage (if eligible) and an AmeriCorps education award voucher of $1000 while completing a 300hr term of service. Jumpstart Corps members work approx 11 hours a week in local early childhood centers, paired one-to-one with a partner child & working to support preschool classrooms.

Availability to work requires one of the following options:
Tue & Thu (2:30p-6p) OR
Wed & Fri (2:30p-6p) OR
Wed & Fri (1:30p-5pm)

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works toward the day that every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Through extraordinary attention in yearlong one-to-one relationships, Jumpstart inspires children to learn, adults to teach, families to get involved, and communities to progress together.

Jumpstart-Akron is looking for an undergraduate student who is dedicated to serving the community to fulfill the VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR position for the 2009-2010 school year. This position helps to plan and implement various Jumpstart service projects. The student will also be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers who will assist at service events. The student who occupies this position will work 10-15 hours per week and be eligible to earn an AmeriCorps award of $1000-$1250 upon completion of the service term of 300-450 hours.

Forum to discuss results from the 2008 Ohio Family Health Survey June 19

A forum titled "What's New in Ohio Health Policy: Taking the Pulse of Health in Ohio," will be in Akron on Friday, June 19 from 1-4 p.m. in Quaker Station (135 S. Broadway, Akron).

The goals of the forum are to:

• Share the most recent findings from the 2008 Ohio Family Health Survey and discussing their implications for various regions of the state.
• Provide updates on state level health policy developments from the State Coverage Initiative, the State Quality Initiative, the Coverage and Quality Council, and the state budget.
• Learn about regional or local activities and best practices in the areas of health care access, patient safety, health quality, health system improvement, or wellness that can be shared with the state level health policy initiatives.

The event is being sponsored by the College of Health Sciences and Human Services and the Institute for Health and Social Policy in conjunction with the Health Policy Institute of Ohio. The event is free of charge; however, to reserve a seat you must register. More information may be found on the Health Policy Institute of Ohio Web site.
