WebCT Campus Edition Upgrade

WebCT 4.1 for Summer and Fall 2004 courses is now online. You can access either your Spring 2004 or Summer 2004 courses by going to http://webct.uakron.edu . You will have the opportunity to choose which server you wish to access.

Note: You may need to update your WebCT bookmark to http://webct.uakron.edu. If you do not have a Summer or Fall 2004 WebCT course, you will not see one in WebCT 4.1.

Again, if you wish to visit your Spring 2004 courses, go to http://webct.uakron.edu and click on the WebCT 3.8 option. This includes WebCT 3.8 (Spring 2004 courses) and WebCT 4.1 (Summer and Fall, 2004 courses).

Scholarship Deadline Approaching May 15

Cleveland Scholarship Programs, Inc. is offering $1000 scholarships for adults age 19 and older pursuing an associate's degree or first bachelor's degree. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must have completed a FAFSA. Students between the ages of 19-24 must have interrupted their education for at least one year either after high school or during college. The deadline to apply for one of these scholarships is Saturday, May 15.

Campus Loop Shuttle Service Update

Effective for the Fall semester, pending the Board of Trustees' approval, the Campus Loop Shuttle Service will be updated to reflect actual usage by the campus community.

With all of the approximately 10,450 parking spaces now available across campus, only the Polsky Express Route has been consistently in high demand during the past year. Therefore, all other routes will be eliminated. Resources that were being used for severely underutilized routes will now be reallocated to improve the speed of the Polsky Express Route.

Specific details about the Campus Loop Shuttle Service this Fall will be posted on the Office of Parking Services website at http://www.uakron.edu/parking as they become available.

Metro RTA Pass Progam Update

Pending the Board of Trustees' approval, the University's Metro RTA Pass Program, which provides unlimited rides on Akron Metro RTA buses during the Fall and Spring semesters to members of the campus community, will continue this Fall. However, it will only be available to those who purchase a UA Pass Program Bus Card.

The card will be available at the Zip Card office at a price of $25 for the semester. This program provides a great value to the campus community—the current price for a comparable pass from Metro RTA is $42 per month.

The Office of Parking Services is pleased to be able to continue offering this valuable service and encourages anyone interested in it to visit http://www.uakron.edu/parking for more details, which will be posted as they become available.

EAF Request and Reimbursement Deadline

Please note the last day to turn in EAF requests for supplies or reimbursements will be Friday, May 28, at
4:30 p.m. All requisitions will need to be brought to the office of Susan Beke in Buchtel Hall, Room 51, by this date in order to have requests charged to the 2003-2004 EAF budget. All requests received after this date will be withdrawn from your organization's 2004-2005 EAF budget allocation.

The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students. Items will be accepted for publication only when the University is directly involved in the activity through participation, sponsorship, or partnership with one of its recognized organizations, colleges or departments. The University reserves the right to edit or to refuse to run any submission for any reason. Zipmail is not, nor is it intended to be, a public forum or a limited public forum. Questions about the implementation of this policy may be directed to zipmail@uakron.edu.

Items to be considered for inclusion in Zipmail should be sent through the Zipmail Event Submission Form. Due to the volume of submissions received, items will not run more than one time.
