Want to do something that could change a high school student’s life forever? Looking for a opportunity to volunteer for a Christian outreach program? We are an international non-profit organization that is running after high school students daily, looking to become a part of their lives and share who Christ is with them from a large scale, to a one on one level. We live by this and enter into the lives of high school students looking to show them life and life to the fullest.
If this sounds like something that you would like to be a part of we would love to have you join us. We meet on Wednesdays in the student union in room 323 at 8:00pm-9:00pm
Also we are taking a backpacking trip to Creede, Colorado, in August. Feel free to come and learn more about it the cost is $750. Come Wednesday and find out more about the details. Hope to see you there.

Popular and Provocative V-Day to be held at E.J. Thomas
(Akron, Ohio) V-Day is back and better than ever. The Women’s Studies Program and E.J. Thomas Hall proudly present a V-Day Benefit of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues: The University of Akron 2010. V-Day is a consciousness-raising event and fundraiser to help end violence against women and to celebrate women, their bodies, and their experiences. Performances will take place Friday, February 12th at 8:00pm and Saturday, February 13th at 4:00pm at EJ Thomas Hall Stage Door. Co-organizers Alyssa Berthiaume and Kameka Fullwood have set up this years 12th anniversary performance with a 1980’s twist and have managed to mix even more attitude with this group of girls who just want to have fun. Organizers state “We are continually striving to create a new atmosphere where such a powerful message cannot be ignored. We want people to enjoy themselves but also leave with awareness and dedication to the cause.” Proceeds from the event will benefit V-Day’s efforts to help aid the women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo and will also benefit the Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties.
Doors open one hour prior to performance and tickets can be purchased by calling 330-972-7570 or by stopping at the EJ Thomas Hall Ticket Office, located at the University of Akron, 198 Hill Street. Box Office hours are Monday-Friday, 10:30a.m. to 6:00p.m. and Saturday, 10:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 for University of Akron students and affiliates and $10.00 for general admission. Parking will be available free of charge in the North Campus Parking Deck. The Clothesline Project, featuring T-shirts made by local survivors, will be on display and Rape Crisis Advocates will be available throughout each performance to provide support and answer questions.
Patricia Millhoff, Program Director of the Women’s Studies Program at the University of Akron, has been pleased with the annual growth of the Akron V-Day event. “We are very excited to be having The Vagina Monologues at E.J. Thomas Hall this year. The Stage Door is an exciting venue in which to perform.” The Women’s Studies Program has put on the campus performance for the past 3 years, drawing ever- expanding crowds and bringing the community together to raise awareness about violence against women.
