Here's how UA students can see big game vs. Kent
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The biggest men's basketball game of the year is approaching fast. Athletics expects ticket demand to exceed availability when the men’s team faces Kent at 8 p.m. Friday, March 5 in Rhodes Arena.

Zips logo

To give the greatest number of students the opportunity to attend the game, we have changed our admission policy for the Kent game only:

  1. To be admitted, students will need to present a physical ticket issued by the Athletic Ticket Office. (Usually, simply showing your Zip Card will get you in, but not for this game.)
  2. The physical ticket is free, but you must pick it up in advance at the InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field Ticket Office beginning at noon on Thursday, Feb. 25. You must show your Zip Card. Only one ticket per Zip Card. A limited number of tickets are available and will be distributed on a first-request basis.

For those unable to attend the game it will be shown live on ESPN2. Call the Athletic Ticket Office at 330-972-6920 with questions.

At just 22, this rural Pennsylvania native has figured out how to capture an audience. With a distinctly delicate voice that could relax even the most uneasy mind, Alexandra shows she is not only a beautiful voice but an accomplished songwriter as well. Alexandra has appeared nation-wide on FOX and has lent her voice to nationally broadcasted commercials. At a time in which the music industry is looking for someone to lead the way, Alexandra might do just that while you stop to enjoy her All-American sound. One listen to Dana Alexandra will offer a voice and cleverly catchy songs that will draw you into her warm little world that you just won't want to leave anytime soon.

UA Color Line Project Open Story Circle in Student Union March 3
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The University of Akron Color Line Project would like to invite students, faculty, staff and other members of the UA community to join guest artists John O’Neal and Theresa Holden (Junebug Productions, New Orleans, LA) for several Story Circle sessions to be held during the week of March 1-5. The Color Line Project is a national story collection process about the role of the Civil Rights Movement and its influence on our continued struggle with racism. The UA Color Line Project intends to collect stories from people in the Akron community who were involved with or who recognize that their lives have been significantly influenced by the Civil Rights Movement, (which, properly speaking, would include just about everyone). The stories will be archived in UA’s Active Research Methods Lab and at the Amistad Center for African American History at Tulane University.
University of Akron Public Story Circles will be held:
Monday, March 1, 5:30-7:30 pm in Sandefur Theatre, Guzzetta Hall
Wednesday, March 3, 1:00-3:00pm in Student Union, Room 314
John O’Neal is a playwright, actor, and stage director. He received a BA from Southern Illinois University in 1962. Upon graduation, O’Neal became Field Secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, establishing the Free Southern Theater (FST) in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1963. Founded as the cultural arm of the Civil Rights Movement, the FST toured to predominantly rural, black neighborhoods. In 1965, it moved its base of operations to New Orleans, continuing its touring company, running community engagement programs and a training workshop in black theater. FST closed in 1980, and O’Neal founded Junebug Productions. He was recently selected as a 2009 USA (United States Artists) Prudential Fellow in Theatre Arts.

The Akron Water Polo Club is looking for new people, (no experience is needed). We are a laid-back team that practices twice a week, Monday and Wednesday from 8-10pm at the ONAT pool. We travel to tournaments hosted by other colleges such as Dayton, OU, and Bowling Green, and we also will be hosting our own tournament in the spring.
