spacer image
If you have an FBI background check to be performed, plan on it taking a bit longer than usual.

The FBI has told our police department that requests for background checks between April 28 and May 3 will be delayed until the bureau can process background checks for census workers. Once May 3 passes, there will be a backlog of non-census requests that will take time to work through.

BCI background checks are not affected.

If you have questions, call Terri Charlton in the police department at 330-972-6181.

Deadline to return U.S. Census forms is April 16 April 16 - May 16
Time: n/a
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The U.S. Census Bureau is asking everyone to fill out and mail back 2010 Census forms by April 16.

It only takes a few minutes to complete the form. By making the effort to be counted, you can help make a big difference for UA and the Akron area. Many decisions are based on census data, including federal and state funding for tuition and loan programs and research projects, where employers will travel to recruit new employees and fair-market rents.

If you live off-campus and don’t submit a completed census form, you can expect a visit from a census taker. Here’s how to identify a census taker:

— Every census taker carries an official government badge marked with just his or her name.

— You may ask for a picture ID to confirm their identity.

— Some census workers might carry a “U.S. Census Bureau” bag.

— A Census Bureau employee will NEVER, under any circumstances, ask to enter your home.

— You can verify the census taker’s identity by calling this toll-free number: 313-396-5200.

For more information, please visit Be Counted.
