spacer image
spacer image
Students are encouraged to check their Fall 2010 schedules via ZipLine.

• Log into ZipLine with your UANet ID and password
• Click on the “Students” tab and then select “Student Center” under the “Access My" section.
• Information regarding course meeting times, days and room location is given in real-time; in other words, all information is up to date as it is retrieved.

The Office of the University Registrar sends an e-mail to the instructor of record and all enrolled students’ UA Net e-mail address when there is a classroom change made in the course(s) they are enrolled. It is recommended that instructors and students check their UANet e-mail often for any important messages from the University as this will be the official means of notification used by the Office of the University Registrar.

Students may access a computer from many locations on campus including:

• Simmons Hall – Lobby
• Student Union – Laptop Check Out and Kiosks
• Residence Halls – Computer Labs
• Bierce Library – Computer Labs and Laptop Check Out
• The Polsky Building – Room 192
• Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences building – Computer Lab Room 103B and Kiosks in Atrium
• College of Business Administration Building – Room 102

Questions regarding your course schedule may be directed to the Office of the University Registrar at Registration@uakron.edu or 330-972-8300 (choose option #4 for Registration).

The Moral and Legal Status of the Unborn Aug. 31
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
One of the most contentious issues that has faced the American public in recent decades concerns the moral and legal status of the unborn human being. On one far end of the spectrum are those who think abortion should be allowed on demand, funded by public money. On the other are those who think abortion is murder, punishable by death.

In seeking to resolve this dilemma by means of philosophical reflection and investigation, the Philosophy Club, in its inaugural meeting of the 2010-11 school year, will explore this highly debated topic.

The meeting will be on Tuesday, August 31st in the Student Union room 312. It will begin at 5 p.m.

One need not be a philosophy major to attend, or have even taken a philosophy class. In fact, not knowing anything about philosophy is a great reason to attend.

Comic Magician, Tim Gabrielson, has one gal when he steps on stage: Keep It Funny. Tim’s comedic wit and natural timing combined with magical prowess quickly made him a theme park favorite. His increasing popularity took him from a best-kept secret among the college venue to a highly sought after performer, and definitely a performance not to be missed!

Comedian Jeff Civillico has always had a thirst for the spotlight. At the age of 15, he had already won the gold medal in his division at the International Juggling Association World Championships. His performance style can be described as a fusion of the physicality of Jim Carrey, the wit of Steve Martin, and the likability of Brian Regan, which makes for an unforgettable show!

Student Judicial Affairs describes changes to Code of Conduct
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Dear Students,

We have updated the Code of Student Conduct. Download a copy.

Here are some of the major changes:

  1. We revised the section about jurisdiction to make it clear to you that the Code encompasses behavior on and off campus, including professional practice assignments, activities performed to satisfy academic course requirements, and student-organization behavior.
  2. We refined the definition of misconduct in the areas of cheating and plagiarism (pgs. 6-7), unauthorized use and distribution of audio/video recordings (pg. 8), sexual misconduct (pg. 8), disruption or obstruction of teaching and university activities (pg. 9), and abuse of the conduct system (pgs. 11-12).
  3. We added the ability to assess fines to the list of possible sanctions (pgs. 17-18), in keeping with best practices on other campuses.

See more about Student Judicial Affairs.

About the Code of Student Conduct
Students are expected to abide by the Code, which seeks to maintain a civil environment that is safe and conducive for learning. When a violation is alleged, UA’s Department of Student Judicial Affairs strives to determine the cause of the referral, whether inappropriate behavior existed, and if a student is found responsible for violating a provision of the Code develops resolutions or imposes sanctions intended to benefit the individual student and the university community.
