Spring 2011 Graduation Applications due December 1st 2010
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Wednesday, December 1st is the graduation application deadline for students planning to graduate at the end of spring semester 2011 with an associate or baccalaureate degree.

Undergraduate degree-seeking students can apply for graduation through ZipLine. This feature is complemented with a To Do List in the ZipLine Student Center which allows students to track the progress of their degree clearance.

Step-by-step instructions for submitting a graduation application in ZipLine are available by clicking the Graduation Services link in the “Quick Links for Students” section of ZipLine.
Graduate degree-seeking students need to submit a completed Advancement to Candidacy to the Graduate School. Graduate students may also use their To Do List to track the progress of their degree clearance.

To avoid the $100 late graduation application fee, don’t miss the deadline. Late applicants will need to obtain a memo of late permission from their dean.

Questions regarding the graduation application process may be directed to the Office of the University Registrar at commencement@uakron.edu

spacer image
spacer image
UA Student Health Services will offer flu shot clinics this year to students, faculty and staff. Our vaccine supply is limited.

If you wish to obtain your flu shot on campus, please e-mail Patty Asbury at pasbury@uakron.edu with the subject line “Want flu shot.” This will give Student Health Services the opportunity to monitor our supply and make adjustments as it is able, depending on the demand and vaccine availability from our supplier. Unfortunately, Student Health Services is unable to return unused vaccine and must be good stewards when placing orders.

Tuesday, Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1 - 6 p.m.

• Where: Student Recreation and Wellness Center 245
• Cost: $15.
• Payment accepted: Cash, check or credit card. Insurance plans not accepted. You may pay in advance for your flu vaccine by visiting Student Health Services in the Student Recreation Wellness Center, Suite 260, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Please wear a short sleeve shirt, sweater or blouse to facilitate ease of vaccine administration and efficiency of our clinic operation.

Clinic Process: Please first visit Student Health Services, Student Recreation and Wellness Center 260 to make payment and read the required vaccine information sheet. You will then proceed with proof of payment to Student Recreation and Wellness Center 245, where one of our nurses will administer your vaccine.

Please Note: Student Health Services is unable to bill your insurance for your vaccine. Some UA staff and student health plans may cover the cost of the vaccine at various local retail pharmacies administering flu vaccine. We recommend that you visit your health benefit plan’s website for more information as you may wish to choose this option.

As early as he can remember, world-renowned Ghost Hunter Chris Fleming was prone to experiencing extraordinary encounters in the form of ghosts and unexplained phenomena. Chris feels he is very “sensitive” to these things and has decided to use that word to describe his insight into energy fields and human or non-human presences we cannot see with our own eyes. Chris brings his 2010 Paranormal Reality Tour to UA, complete with ghosts, photos, videos, and audio evidence to prove it.

The University is conducting a pilot of some new video signage. We need your help is assessing the screens. Please take the brief, online survey at https://survey2.uakron.edu/novicast.aspx.

The survey will help us understand if these screens add value to the University and if we should install more of them.

The Novicast screens are located in the Student Union, Rob's, the Law School, and the atrium of Arts & Sciences. You can also view the screens online at http://novicast.uakron.edu/release/. At the top of the screen, you’ll see “Quick Links”. Scroll over that, choose Novicast Index, and then Group Selector. From there you can select one of the four locations to view what’s on the screens.

The Novicast signs also have an emergency notification feature that we could use if necessary.

If you have questions about Novicast or the survey, contact mag7@uakron.edu.

The “Shoop Groop” promotion now has a Halloween twist for the month of October. Now, instead of handing out crisp Jacksons, Shoop is making it rain Boo-at-the-Roo tickets throughout campus. In case you have forgotten, all you have to do is read the paper, find Anthony Schupp, pass a joke of a quiz, and win tickets and other fun prizes. To make things even easier, he may be wearing a Halloween costume every Tue/Thurs. So look for a ridonkadiculous outfit and the smashing new lamb chop side burns. Read the dang Buchtelite.
