RHODES ARENA CUL-DE-SAC:
Temporary traffic disruptions are expected the week of June 21 as city of Akron crews relocate fire hydrants.

UNION STREET:
Construction of the Union Street streetscape from Buchtel Common at Olin Hall to Buchtel Avenue is under way. To enter Olin Hall, use the east entrance. Please note that the sidewalks from Buchtel Avenue to Olin Hall have been removed – access Olin Hall from Buchtel Common or through Lot 15 east of Olin Hall.

BUCHTEL AVENUE:
Buchtel Avenue has been narrowed to one lane so a sewer connection project can be completed.

BUCHTEL COMMON:
Replacement of high temperature water lines is expected to begin on June 21 in the area of the Buchtel Common walkway along the Dorothy Garrett Martin Fountain. Pedestrian and emergency traffic will be restricted to being permitted on the west side of the fountain.

COLLEGE STREET:
Construction of the College Street streetscape has required restricting vehicles on the Circle below Buchtel Hall. The Circle is open only to emergency vehicles, deliveries to Bierce Library and for pick-ups and drop-offs in front of the College of Arts & Sciences building.

Jumpstart-Akron, the University of Akron's partnership with Jumpstart and the local Head Start community continues its recruitment for Fall 2004-Spring 2005!

We are looking for students with Federal Work-Study awards for 2004-2005 who would like to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in a child's life! Also, we are especially needing some positive male role models for children to participate in this program.

Jumpstart is an AmeriCorps program that recruits and trains college students to mentor 3-5 year old children who need you. Read stories, sing songs and play to support young children's school readiness while earning a Federal Work-Study wage and an AmeriCorps education award in the process!

If you have a Federal Work-Study award and are looking for a different and rewarding position, simply go to http://www.jstart.org/apply/ to submit an application. We will then be in contact with you for an interview.

Contact Jumpstart-Akron staff at (330) 972-7936 or e-mail jumpstart@uakron.edu with questions regarding the requirements.

We will be recruiting through the summer for our Fall 2004-Spring 2005 positions. You need to have either Tuesday and Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or Wednesday and Friday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. available!

Jumpstart Corps Members work 10-12 hours a week (not during University holiday breaks) in local early childhood and Head Start centers, on teams of 10, paired 1-on-1 with a partner child. Gain valuable skills and experience, earn Federal Work-Study money and make a difference in the life of a child!
