Police: Tuck away GPS units and brackets when you park
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
University police remind students to place GPS units and other valuables out of sight when they park their vehicles on campus, at the mall or any other metropolitan area.

Thieves have been known to break out vehicle windows to grab GPS units and other valuables they see.

Further, officers recommend that you remove the bracket that holds the GPS unit as well. An empty bracket could lead a thief to believe that a GPS is still in the vehicle. Several companies offer brackets or beanbag-like holders that are easy for motorists to remove when they lock their vehicles.

Officers point out GPS units are relatively inexpensive to replace compared to the cost and hassle of having a new window installed or other damage repaired.

Taking a moment to store you valuables out of sight can save you time and money.

Singer/Songwriter Chinua Hawk

Date: Tuesday March 22, 2011

Time: 7:17pm

Location: SU Starbucks

Singer, Songwriter, Entrepreneur. These are just some of the words that can be used to describe Chinua Hawk. Born and raised in New Jersey, Chinua considers himself a citizen of the world.

As a performer with hundreds of performances under his belt, Chinua captivates audiences all over the world with the simplicity and class that defines his career. “My show is very simple -- what you see is what you get,” says Chinua. Chinua counts himself very fortunate to have performed with Celine Dion in front of a crowd of 30,000 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

He’s also written songs with Wyclef Jean and worked in the studio with producer/rapper Kanye West on rapper Talib Kwelis’ song “Just To Get By.” Chinua’s other accomplishments include winning the Disc Makers Independent Music World Series in 2004, beating out over 1,000 bands with just a guitar player to accompany him.

Millions heard Chinua’s song “Can’t Move On” from his debut independent release The Beautiful Things when it aired on the CBS drama Joan of Arcadia.
