STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO CHECK THEIR SUMMER 2011 COURSE SCHEDULES VIA ZIPLINE May 2
Time: n/a

spacer image
Students are encouraged to check their summer 2011 schedules via ZipLine.

• Log into ZipLine with your UANet ID and password
• Click on the “Students” tab, and then select “Student Center”, under the “Access My” section.
• Information regarding course meeting times, days and room location is given in real-time; in other words, all information is up to date as it is retrieved.

The Office of the University Registrar sends an e-mail to the instructor of record and all enrolled students’ UANet e-mail address when there is a classroom change made in the course(s) they are enrolled. It is recommended that instructors and students check their UANet e-mail often for any important messages from the University as this will be the official means of notification used by the Office of the University Registrar.

Students may access a computer from many locations on campus including:

• Simmons Hall – Lobby
• Student Union – Laptop Check Out and Kiosks
• Residence Halls – Computer Labs
• Bierce Library – Computer Labs and Laptop Check Out
• The Polsky Building – Room 192
• Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences building – Computer Lab Room 103B and Kiosks in Atrium
• College of Business Administration Building – Room 102

Questions regarding your course schedule may be directed to the Student Services Center at ssc@uakron.edu.

***ONLY APPLIES TO THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF COLLEGIATE SCHOLARS MEMBERS***

Win a $100 Barnes & Noble Gift Card!!!

The contest is open to The University of Akron NSCS members only. To enter the contest, write a brief essay addressing the following....

What can your NSCS chapter do to improve the member experience?
You should give specific suggestions for service activities, community/school involvement, social events, leadership opportunities, etc that you would be interested in participating in. You may also address additional questions such as:
- What were your expectations when you joined NSCS?
- What are you hoping to achieve from your membership?
- What would be your first step for the 2011-2012 school year, if you were an officer?

There is no word/page requirement for the essay. We are looking for quality ideas for improving our chapter and increasing member participation in chapter activities. Essays will be judged by the 2010-2011 officers, and the winner will be notified by email. Although we are not English professors grading the essay, try to correct all grammatical errors before submitting your answers, since it distracts from the content of the essay.

The deadline for submission is Friday, May 13th, 2011 at 11:59pm.

Include with the essay:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your student status (Freshman, Sophomore, etc)
- Your major

*Email your essay to Alicia Nathaniel, NSCS Treasurer for the UA chapter at aab37@zips.uakron.edu.

*By submitting the essay, you agree that we may post your name as the winner on our chapter’s NSCS Facebook page. The winner will be notified by email before it is posted on Facebook.

Guidance for military service students who must miss class May 6
Time: n/a
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The University of Akron is a “Veteran Friendly” institution and recognizes its obligations to our students who serve in the military. Although there is a University-level expectation that all students will attend their classes at the designated meeting times, syllabi should clearly outline specific attendance policies for each course. If you currently serve in the military and will miss classes for short-term military leave or for military training exercises, we recommend that you contact your instructors as soon as you become aware of this so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

In the rare case that unresolved issues arise due to absences from a course because of your service in the military, we recommend that you contact the chair of the department through which the course is offered. If you are still not satisfied with the result, then the dean of the college and, if necessary, the Office of Academic Affairs may be contacted.

As always, the Military Services Center is open in Simmons Hall 120 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to assist you. You are also welcome to contact us by telephone at 330-972-7838 or by e-mail at veterans@uakron.edu for assistance with any issues that you encounter as you pursue your degree here at The University of Akron.
